1944 Photograph of the invasion of Anzio as part of the Italian campaign to retake Europe during WWII. An official US military photograph, this presents an eerie foreshadowing to the D-Day invasion of a few months later in France. There is a paper label on the back that describes the action while the purple text from the government is also visible but was pencil marked over by a newspaper editor for some reason. Completely original to 1944 and in great shape, this is the only image from this invasion we have ever seen! A perfect 10/10!
