The 1935 bout between James J. Braddock and Max Baer is one of the greatest sporting events in American history. A down on his luck fighter came from nowhere to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World and inspire millions at the height of the Great Depression. The offered important photograph captures the moment this fight became official, Braddock at left listening in on a conversation that confirmed Max Schmeling would not be fighting Baer and Braddock would get his shot! An important piece of boxing history from the International News and the only example of this photograph we have ever seen. The photo has a few tiny rips on the extreme borders, but the image quality is strong!
