1916 Silver gelatin team photograph of the Boston Red Sox in uniform and posing at the ballpark on the day they repeated as American League Champions before they headed off to the World Series. Led by young Babe Ruth, sitting front and center, the image is deep and clear, issued by the Central Press Association and stamped on the back with the date and a full paper caption as well. In the entire sports memorabilia hobby, there are only about ten or twenty vintage 1916 Red Sox team photographs out there with this one, in our opinion, being the best of the bunch. The players are so crisp and clear that the individual hairs on their arms can be seen and under close inspection it is noted that Ruth wore a steel plate on the toe of his left cleat! The photograph appears at first glance to be in nearly perfect condition but it does have a small rip on the far right border. One of the most important images we have offered in some time and a completely fresh to the market new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever after sitting in a newspaper archive for the last 124 years!
