1903 Silver gelatin portrait photograph of the ace of the Pittsburgh Pirates Charles "Deacon" Phillippe in full uniform from early in his career. Taken by famous photographer Carl Horner, this is one of the only original examples of this image we have seen and it was used for a large number of his baseball cards including Tip Top Bread, Colgans Chips, M116, Fan Craze and others. Condition and quality are both outstanding with the number 13 added in ink by an artist at a newspaper over 100 years ago.
