Joe Harris is one of Baseballs forgotten heroes. He was a star on the diamond, batting a career .317 over ten seasons in the big leagues with the Yankees, Indians, Red Sox, Senators, Pirates and Dodgers. He was also a genuine War Hero (WWI) who was badly disfigured during the Great War but rebounded to a fine career. The offered detailed portrait photograph was taken shortly after Harris returned to baseball and although the effects of his injuries can be seen, he appears determined to beat the odds and return to the promise he showed before Uncle Sam called him up. Photograph is large and detailed with some mild creasing at the bottom, issued by NEA and stamped on the back.
