1939 Photograph of the Baltimore Elite Giants in uniform and posing at the ballpark with the trophy for winning the Negro League Championship. A young Roy Campanella, still wearing his catchers gear from the game, is kneeling next to owner Bill Robinson next to the trophy making this one of the earliest images of the future Hall of Famer that exists! The lineup also included Biz Mackey (not sure if he is in the photo) and several other stars as well. The image quality is a perfect, stamped on the back by the photographer M. Smith and while there is creasing and some handling wear from publication, the image displays well. This is the most important image of Roy Campanella we have ever seen in any form!
