The 1941 season for Joe DiMaggio was one of the greatest in baseball history. His 56 game hitting streak is still among the most hallowed records in all of sports, and it all began right here. DiMaggio is seen stealing second after getting a single on Opening Day (April 14, 1941) against the Senators. A month later, he would begin his 56 game tear and into the history books. An extremely rare action photograph from his epic season, this fine example was taken by a photographer from Acme and it bears a long and detailed caption on the back.
