One of the most talked about moments in baseball history took place during the 1934 All Star Game in New York. Carl Hubbell, the great screwball pitcher, took the mound and struck out Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe Cronin in succession to cement his place as a legend of the game. While the event is often talked about, there has never been a photo of this moment that has surfaced, until now! A seemingly unimportant but quality image of the Polo Grounds is transformed into one of the most exciting baseball photographs we have ever offered when under close inspection it can easily be seen that the man on the mound is Carl Hubbell who has just fired a ball past the hitter. Babe Ruth has just struck out against Hubbell and the umpire's fist is still raised in the air signaling the punch-out. The man crouched in the on-deck circle is none other than Lou Gehrig, waiting for his turn to do just as the Babe did on Hubbell's path to history. A fantastic image which presents in crystal clarity, this is the ONLY known original image of this iconic moment in baseball history and one that is being offered here for the first time ever!
