About thirty years before he became the Commissioner of Baseball, Albert "Happy" Chandler took the mound for Transylvania College and won his first game as a college pitcher against the University of Tennessee. Beaming with pride, the team memorialized the event with a team photograph. Chandler's own example of this photograph, tattered from years of showing it off to baseball players, fans, and fellow politicians, is now being offered here to the public in what can only be described as the greatest image of Hall of Famer "Happy" Chandler that exists in the world. Pictured third from the left in the top row, Chandler is looking a bit cocky in full uniform with the rest of his team. There are identifications of all the players on the back in Chandler's hand and also a fantastic note in which he mentions this was the very day he won his first game! A unique piece of baseball history that belongs in the Hall of Fame and one that is sure to excite the "Rookie" collectors!
