1963 Famous photograph of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as he stood in front of a massive crowd at Washington and delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. Despite being one of the most famous moments in American history, relatively few images were taken of the event and even fewer exist in original form. This is a fiber backed original that was recently pulled from a foreign newspaper archive (Voila ANP Fotos) which was in the Netherlands. This was supplied to the archive by the United Press International and it bears their early 1960's company stamp. It is embossed on the corner and absolutely dates to 1963/1964 and was even used in publication in 1964 by this archive! Note, PSA previously examined this photograph, and their opinion is that it is a slight restrike c. 1970. We disagree with this assessment and stand by our evaluation that this is indeed a 1960's example. We have spoken to the overseas collector who brought this photograph to America, and he has confirmed this is the correct 1960's stamp from the Netherlands archive this originates from. Please keep this discrepancy in mind when biding.
