Vintage 1988-89 photograph of Michael Jordan as he took to the air to dominate the Detroit Pistons. Jordan was trying to will the Bulls to their first NBA Championship, but it would be the Pistons in 1988-89 and 1989-90 that would vanquish Jordan, forcing him to develop his legendary grit and determination to finally be able to beat them in 1991 and start his run of six championships! The aesthetic quality of this photograph is incredible, presenting as an absolute work of art, worthy of induction into the highest quality museum or gallery, but the symbolism of the Pistons rivalry and with his nemesis Isiah Thomas in the background puts this on another level. A beautiful image in nice shape overall, this is from the archives of the Chicago Tribune and photographer Bob Langer, making this almost certainly a unique specimen. The photo has been certified by PSA as a Type 1!
