1918 Large silver gelatin batting photo of Cleveland Indians shortstop Ray Chapman in uniform. One of the most popular players in the game Chapman was killed by a pitched ball in 1920 and he is still the only player to die from injuries sustained in a major league baseball game. Because of his early death and his career coinciding with WWI, images of Chapman are VERY rare with this being one of the best out there as to quality and clarity. Encapsulated by PSA as a Type 1 and in great shape, this is one of his greatest images we have ever offered!
