Louis Van Oeyen is one of the greatest photographers in baseball history, but he was also just a guy trying to make a living. These early artists are revered by collectors today but a hundred years ago they were just normal guys, living in normal neighborhoods and trying to make enough money to eek out a living. Louis Van Oeyen was a staff photographer at several Cleveland area newspapers and would take assignments to shoot all sorts of subjects, but each exhibiting his flare for the artistic and a great eye! Here he captures an early Cleveland traffic cop engaged in his work while on assignment with NEA in 1926. The back is stamped by the iconic photographer and despite a corner chip and some editorial framing, it presents really well. Offered here for the first time ever from the archives of the NEA, making this likely unique!
