J. Horace McFarland was one of the first (and most prominent) Naturalists in America and developed the "City Beautiful Movement". He was also a noted and celebrated photographer and he used his artistic talents to help spread the idea that "nature was art" through his images. The offered Art Photo shows "Rhododendrons" and it is a classic example of McFarland's work. The item is a silver gelatin original and the condition is wonderful. Reverse has a vintage (c.1905) McFarland stamp and handwritten title of the image. While images of McFarland almost never come up for sale due to rarity, his images are prized by museums and institutions all over the World! A spectacular image in tremendous condition that belongs in a gallery!
