After only a few months in office John F. Kennedy was faced with one of the most tense moments in United States history. With Russian missiles pointed at the American mainland only a few miles away in Cuba, the "Bay of Pigs" seemed as though Nuclear War would soon be a reality. In a more civil time, Kennedy did the natural thing, calling on his predecessor Dwight Eisenhower for advice. This iconic 1961 photograph by Paul Vathis of the Associated Press captures the two as they walk and spend a few quiet moments together at Camp David discussing the moments events. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for photography, this is a special image in fine shape and is among the only examples we have ever seen that was developed off the original negative. While blank backed, this is done on vintage 1960's fiber backed paper and shows all the hallmarks of being a vintage 1960's example, but it might not be able to be certified by PSA due to the lack of stamps so please keep this in mind when bidding.
