On June 6, 1944, one of the few photographers brave enough to board an LCT and go ashore with the soldiers on D-Day was Bert Brandt of Acme. He would survive the assault and return to deliver the first images of the assault to the public, chronicling the event with precision, we was even nominated for a Pulitzer for his daring work. His photographs have become famous but back in his day, he was just a normal soldier trying to survive. After the war he stayed with Acme as a photographer on assignment and is seen here taking images of a young lady who would attempt to swim the English Channel. This is the only image of Brandt himself after WWII we have ever seen in the industry and it is being offered here for the first time ever. It is incredibly rare to find images of photographers as the lens was rarely turned on them and this is a gem!
