Vintage 1944 photograph from the days just after the D-Day landing on June 6th as Dwight Eisenhower offers his support to a black soldier on the front lines during the battle of Normandy (Cherbourg). Issued in 1945 as part of a retrospective film titled "The True Glory", this is just a year from when the original was taken in June 1944. A touching image that we have never seen before, the soldier is even identified as pfc. T.L. Honeycup which is an incredible touch considering the racism of the day. There is a some light wear to the upper left but overall it presents well and this is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen in the industry!
