An argument can be made that the best pitcher in the American League from 1911-13 was Vean Gregg of the Cleveland Indians. He posted three consecutive 20 win seasons and led the league in ERA in 1911 at 1.80 while playing for a very mediocre Indians squad. He actually won 32 games in 1910 in the PCL as well! When this portrait was taken by noted photographer Charles Conlon, Gregg was winding down his illustrious career but going out with a bang as he was part of the American League champion Washington Senators. Crystal clear and with detail so precise you can see the individual strands of yarn on his sweater, this is among the best images of Vean Gregg out there made more significant by the famous photographer who clicked the shutter! The quality is outstanding and the condition is equally nice with pinholes at the corners from editorial use. Signed on the back by Conlon and from the archives of Baseball Magazine!
