Margaret Donahue could easily land in the baseball Hall of Fame someday and has as much a claim as Effa Manley ever did. She was the first female executive in baseball history and served in the Chicago Cubs front office from 1919-1958. She pioneered the use of season tickets and promotions aimed at families as well as serving the Chicago Bears football team as well. When William Veeck died, she was initially promoted to team President but was actually snubbed completely because she was a woman, dealing with discrimination like few before or since. The offered payroll check from the Chicago Cubs is made to cash for $500 and is endorsed on the back by Donahue from early in her tenure in the front office. Her autograph is rare and this is an underrated piece of baseball history that will be worth thousands if she ever gets her due as a pioneer in Cooperstown!
