1927 Extremely rare photograph from behind the scenes of the filming of "Metropolis" which has been called the greatest film of all time by critics. The film has been acclaimed for it's early use of sci-fi and dystopian themes and it utilized cinematic techniques that were ground breaking at the time. The offered studio photograph is not only an extreme rarity from the film, but it is the only "behind the scenes" photograph we have ever seen in the industry. Director Fritz Lang is seen in the frame with megaphone as he barks orders to the actresses in the famous flood scene while actress Brigitte Helm is also visible. A paper caption on the back cements this as a vintage original example issued in 1927 as part of the initial theatrical release, making it one of the most important pieces of Hollywood memorabilia we have ever offered. The condition and quality are both outstanding.
