The prototypical Hollywood superstar struggling with substance abuse is common today, but in the 1920's it was just coming to light as a problem. One of the first casualties of this unfortunate link between film and drugs was actress Alma Rubens. She was a huge star in the early 1920's but by she would eventually descended deep into drug addiction and would die in 1931. A rare image of one of the first casualties to the fast life of a Hollywood star of the silent era, this is from the genesis of her career and dated from 1916 on the back! This is the greatest image of Rubens we have ever seen and it is being offered here for the first time ever.
