1938 Exceptional photograph of Bill Watson from the University of Michigan as he showed off his incredible physique for a photographer as he was working out to try and win a decathlon event in Berlin. Taken during the height of the Hitler regime, this must have been quite a trip for a star black athlete in 1938! Watson was the first black man to be named a captain of any team at the University of Michigan and the first to win a decathlon medal! An incredible image in great shape and issued by the International News with a stamp and paper caption on the back. Who says modern athletes are better than the old days!
