1907 Extremely rare vintage photograph of Carlisle Indian School quarterback Frank Mt. Pleasant as he demonstrated the proper way for a quarterback to hand the ball off to a running back. He was an early Native American star and is often credited with being the first to throw a forward pass in a game, making him an important piece of football history. This is one of a set of five images of Mt. Pleasant that our consigner has from a former teammate at Carlisle's estate and this is being offered here for the first time ever. There is a famous image of Mt. Pleasant throwing a forward pass that is widely publicized and was used in 1907 in magazines and this image is from the same photos session as that image, wearing the same uniform and shoes and taken on the same exact day! This is only the second image of Frank Mt. Pleasant we have ever handled and the first we have ever offered for sale!
