Large c. 1879 cabinet photograph of a large college football team or early Athletic Club posing with the ball on the field and including either the referee or manager in a top hat! The photographers mount identifies this as being taken in Concord, New Hampshire and while more research is needed, this likely a prominent team of some type! One of the earliest football images taken ON THE FIELD we have ever seen!
