Before he was the 'Say Hey Kid' and before he was ranked as quite possibly the greatest baseball player who ever lived, Willie Mays was a young minor leaguer with the Minneapolis Millers trying to make a big league roster! The offered photo captures Willie in uniform with the Millers and looking apprehensive about the future as he poses for the camera. Very few photographs of Mays in minor league uniform were ever taken (he only played in 35 games for the Millers) and this is his best known ever taken. The offered example is a restrike from the 1980's and developed on period Kodak paper with watermarks on the back. This is actually closer to the original than todays date as it has about forty years of age to it!
