The 1941 pin-up photograph of Rita Hayworth by photographer Bob Landy was an accidental shot. He initially thought it was junk because the flash was set to high (creating the mirroring effect in the photo behind her) but it grew on her and when it was published in LIFE magazine, it became the greatest pin-up in history. The photo sold millions of copies to soldiers who took it with them off to WWII and the legend was born. This is a much rarer image to find than the equally famous photo of Betty Grable and this example is the best we have ever handled. The offered example has some creasing and was well loved, but the image quality is strong. It was likely developed in the 1950's or 1960's based on the photographic paper and gelatin, but it still has significant age to it. This is one of only a handful of examples of this photograph (all slight restrikes) we have ever seen with this being one of the best out there!
