Large 1918 close-up of the batting grip of Hall of Famer Home Run Baker from the New York Yankees. One of the most famous players of all time, his power numbers were legendary and his skill with the bat made this close-up an obvious choice for an unknown photographer from NEA (possibly Louis Van Oeyen) when he undertook this artistic series of baseball hand grips and batting stances. A detailed image in decent shape overall (photo has a light crease top to bottom at the left side) this could easily be hanging in a museum or gallery under the title "Baseball as Art." This is the only artistic close-up of Home Run Bakers' batting grip we have ever seen and it is almost certainly unique, offered here for the first time ever!
