Large 1916 action photograph of Chick Gandil who had come into the league as a star prospect for the White Sox (1910) but then was traded to the Washington Senators where he really became one of the top first basemen in the game. After the 1915 season he was dealt to the Indians where he played only one year before heading back to the White Sox where he became and iconic member of the 1919 Black Sox. This is a rare piece of photography from a local Cleveland newspaper that shows Gandil in his position at first base. The photo has a crease at the right side as well as some wear to the edges and corners from editorial use, but the image quality is strong. There is some artistic tracing and pinholes from editorial use as well.
