Before the start of the 1927 season Babe Ruth was demanding a $100,000 salary. It seemed crazy at the time but if Jacob Ruppert knew what we do today, he would have realized it was a bargain. Ruth was trim and in his prime and the result of his hard work in the off-season would be a record 60 home run season and leading the Yankees to the World Series title. The offered image from Underwood and Underwood shows Ruth having his waistline measured to show how much weight he had lost. A really interesting photograph in nice condition and with a full paper caption on the back.
