The September 21, 1955 fight between Rocky Marciano and Archie Moore was an important moment in boxing history. It would be the last fight of Marciano's career, cementing him as one of the greatest of all time, having never lost a bout in his life, finishing at 49-0! He would retire at the end of the bout and pass the torch on to a series of younger fighters, culminating in the coronation of Sonny Liston and Muhammad Ali within the next ten years. The offered large photograph is an important moment from the bout as it captures Moore on the mat, having just been knocked down by Marciano, memorializing the final seconds of Marciano's iconic career. From the Associated Press and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well, this is a work of art that we have never seen before. There is a bit of handling wear but overall it presents nice. Offered here for the first time ever, fresh out of a London newspaper archive.
