Impressive 1967 photograph of the newest member of the Houston Astros, Eddie Mathews. One of the most prodigious power hitters of all time, this is one of the only examples we have seen in uniform with the Astros as he only played for them one season! Taken by a local photographer and stamped on the back (Gulf Photos) and dated from well before the season after he signed with the team making this likely a photo-op that was done specifically for promotional purposes! The photo has some light creasing from editorial use but otherwise it presents well.
