1947 Large and artistic photograph of Hall of Famer Willard Brown, famous Negro Leagues slugger as he appeared in uniform with the St. Louis Browns. One of the first black players in baseball history, he is underrated and undervalued considering his place in history. This is a stunning and artistic image in uniform with the Browns and showing Brown leaping for a high ball. His stark white uniform and blackened background are highly symbolic of the dark past baseball was leaving behind in it's pursuit of equality in 1947. Issued in about 1958 by the United Press and stamped on the back, this is his best vintage image we have ever seen and it is being offered here for the first time ever.
