1944 Rare photograph of Casey Stengel, the new manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, who was leading his team to the top of the American Association at the time. The man he replaced was Charlie Grimm whose Cubs were in last place, so Stengel brought him some of his teams bats for luck! Taken nearly a decade before he would take the helm of the New York Yankees, this is the first example of this image we have ever seen and it presents beautifully, issued by the Associated Press and with a full paper caption on the back as well.
