1928 Photograph of Ty Cobb from the Philadelphia Athletics in uniform with the Osaka team of Japan as part of his goodwill trip to the island to play the final baseball games of his career. He had retired from the big leagues just weeks earlier and this would be the last time he suited up as an active player. He is pictured with three other players in uniform including Frank Ploof (business manager for the tour), Fred Hoffmann and Bob Shawkey. This is from the archives of Underwood and Underwood and it is the only example of this image of Cobb from this trip to Japan that we have ever seen. Offered here for the first time ever!
