c. 1908 Vintage portrait photograph of Charles Sommers, pioneer baseball owner and co-founder of the American League. Sommers was the money behind Charles Comiskey when the two men ventured out to create their own league in 1901 and was awarded the franchise in his hometown of Cleveland as a benefit. In twenty years of collecting, this is the only image of Sommers we have ever seen and it presents beautifully, showing the young industry titan in a formal studio setting. An underrated baseball pioneer who could easily be in the Hall of Fame!
