1939 Poignant photograph of Lou Gehrig from the New York Yankees, just a few months after benching himself because he was "not right", and posing at the All-Star Game with Jimmie Foxx and Lefty Gomez. Gehrig was dying, and he knew it, but he was in uniform and putting on a brave face for his fans in this touching photograph. A beautiful and clear image in great shape, this is a restrike from about the late 1950's or early 1960's.
