One of the most important photographs taken during WWII is "Into the Jaws of Death", by noted photographer Robert Sargent. He brilliantly captured the US Coast Guard invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, with soldiers piling out of the boat and heading toward danger, death, and victory. A beautiful image in great shape, this is a silver gelatin original from the estate of a veteran who put on a display in 1948 about the D-Day invasion and the war and used images he acquired from the military for his presentation, making these vintage prints from before 1948 and in great shape overall. He has written his own caption on the back that says, "again" which is an interesting phrase, one that we are sure had greater meaning when he put together the display! This is one of a small collection of these vintage WWII photographs we are running from the same source. They are 100% off the original negatives and date to just after WWII (before 1948). Blank backed images from this era are generally not evaluated by PSA (they decline to render an opinion as to date without stamps) but they are the real deal and offered here for the first time ever! The quality of this photograph is perfect, leaving no doubt this is from the original negative!
