Early Wynn was probably an unlikely person to suspect as a future Hall of Famer in 1939. He had toiled for a few years in the minor leagues and it would be another three years after this photo was taken that he would be a regular starter at the major league level! The offered Near Mint photograph is dated during Spring Training 1939 when he was hoping to make the team and it is the earliest image of Wynn we have ever seen! We sold another example of this photograph in 2014 for $802!
