Rare 1926 photograph of Harry Houdini preparing himself and his assistants for a stunt he would do by locking himself in a coffin at a swimming pool at the Shelton Hotel in New York. An incredible rarity that we have never seen before, this captures Houdini examining the buoyancy of the coffin, ready to risk his life for the crowd. This is from the archives of Underwood and Underwood and is being offered for the first time ever in great shape. While there is no stamp to identify the era of production, the paper is very old. In our opinion this is a slightly later restrike from the 1930's, but probably just outside our window for a "Vintage 1" example so we are being safe and calling this a "Vintage 2" from the 1930's or possibly the early 1940's.
