After only a few months in office John F. Kennedy was faced with one of the most tense moments in United States history. With Russian missiles pointed at the American mainland only a few miles away in Cuba, the "Bay of Pigs" seemed as though Nuclear War would soon be a reality. In a more civil time, Kennedy did the natural thing, calling on his predecessor Dwight Eisenhower for advice. This iconic 1961 photograph by Paul Vathis of the Associated Press captures the two as they walk and spend a few quiet moments together at Camp David discussing the moments events. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for photography, this is a special image in fine shape and is the only example we have ever seen that was developed off the original negative. While blank backed, this is done on vintage 1960's fiber backed paper and shows all the hallmarks of being a vintage 1960's example. The paper caption has been ripped off by a newspaper archive but the remnants are on the back which can also be used to prove the date is vintage to the 1960's as well. This is the finest example of this important photograph we have ever seen and it is being offered here for the first time ever!
