Vintage September 24, 1979 photograph of Wayne Gretzky in uniform with the Edmonton Oilers as his team was set to battle the Canadian Olympic Team in Medicine Hat, Alberta. A preseason rarity, this was actually the second time ever that Gretzky suited up in an Edmonton jersey (as an NHL player not as a member of the WHA) before he ever played a regular season game in the NHL. An exceptional piece of history, this was developed on Kodak paper with watermarks on the back that were first used in early 1980. It is impossible to date the photo to a concrete year of production, but we feel based on the paper and watermark style, that the image was developed in the early 1980's, fitting well within our range for a "Vintage 1" but we are unsure of how PSA will classify the specimen. An important piece of hockey history that grades a perfect 10/10!
