Stunning c. 1948 portrait photograph of the man who changed baseball and really kicked the Civil Rights movement into overdrive, Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers. One of his finest early photographs we have ever handled, this has perfect clarity and it bears the stamp of well known photographer George Dorrill on the back. In great shape and with exceptional quality, this is one of his better images we have ever handled. The photo comes pre-certified and encapsulated by PSA as a "Type 1" and despite being listed as c. 1950's on the label, this is from a known 1948 photo session and we have sold another example where PSA has indeed identified it as a 1940's example (Lot 7 in our February 2019 Auction). Without a doubt, one of the top early portraits of Jackie we have handled.
