Hal Wiltse may or may not have been a good pitcher, but he was on such bad Red Sox teams in the mid 1920's that it is hard to know. He lost twice as many games as he won, but he also had the task of facing the 1927 Yankees and other sluggers on a daily basis! Regardless of his skill, he was a nobody player on a bad team which meant nobody was going to the ballpark to take his photograph! The lone exception was Charles Conlon who would have been tasked with taking pictures of every player for the Spalding Guides and Sporting News, and this is his example that is being offered here for the first time ever, from the archives of the Sporting News. Stamped on the back by Conlon and in beautiful condition. One of the toughest Red Sox players to find images of and this one is the best out there!
