Perhaps the most iconic photograph of the attack on Pearl Harbor ever taken, this image captures the USS Shaw ablaze on the morning of December 7, 1941. A single palm leaf symbolizes the serenity of the Hawaiian shore while the dramatic explosion in the distance is an instant shock to the system as the Japanese had done the unthinkable by attacking the United States on it's own shores. We have only ever seen a few original examples of this photograph offered and this one (dated 1942 when the photo was first released to the public) is perhaps the finest. Issued by the International News and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well, this comes encapsulated by PSA as a Type 1 and is being offered here for the first time ever, fresh out of a newspaper archive.
