Baseball history is full of anomalies like Paul Johnson. He was a really good player who batted .315 for a bad Athletics team in 1921, but then was released and faded into obscurity despite playing for some good minor league clubs. Johnson is such a rare player to find images of that the only known example before this image was discovered had him looking down and you could not even see his face; but this new and exciting find captures him like no other known to exist. Looking directly at the photographer and presenting himself for the world to see, this is a piece of baseball history that is his only known image and is being offered here for the first time ever. Photo has a tiny crease on the upper right that has been reinforced with tape on the back but looks high grade.
