1908 Extremely detailed and thought provoking photograph of a massive crowd leaving the Polo Grounds after a tense game with the Chicago Cubs. This photo is from the famous game at the end of the season between the Cubs and Giants to decide the National League pennant due to a mistake in a game by Fred Merkle that forced a tie-breaking affair. While there is a pencil date on the back of September 23, 1908 (which was the initial Merkle incident), the photo in reality captures the famous make-up game on October 3, 1908 and will come with a multi-page research analysis of the photograph that pinpoints the date. Offered here in pretty nice shape with some handling wear but a crystal clear image. One of the most important dates in baseball history!
