Stunning 1916-17 photograph of Pittsburgh Pirates superstar Honus Wagner as he posed on the dugout steps with his bat and struck a stoic pose for a photographer from the International News. One of his more famous images of the WWI era, this was used by numerous publications including used as a cover shot for the famous Police Gazette in 1917. The image is crystal clear and will get a Type 1 from PSA as it has the appropriate 1915-1920 (earlier version in fact) stamp from the company. The photo has a chip and stain on the borders, but the figure of Wagner remains untouched. A powerful image of one of the greatest baseball players of all time that is the only example we have ever seen!
