Large 1948 photograph of Hall of Famer Babe Ruth as he puts on his uniform for the last time, just before he stepped on the field at Yankee Stadium in one of the most widely photographed moments in baseball history. A rare image showing an alternate pose that we have not seen before, this is stamped in 1948 by the Keystone View Company and is one of the only stamped examples from this event that we have seen. The stamp from Keystone is consistent to 1948 and even the handwritten note on the back was written in 1948 with a date reference (month and day) but not year! Photo has some handling wear from news-room use but it presents beautifully off the original negative.
