Beautiful c. 1916 portrait photograph of Manfred Von Richthofen, "The Red Baron", and taken in his military uniform at the height of WWI. He has gone down in history as the most recognizable figure of WWI who redefined the way we think about military fighter pilots. Images of him are almost non-existent except for these souvenir real photo postcards made in Germany at the height of the war. Not a country to let a publicity stunt go, he was one of the first superstar warriors of the modern era and his image was sold throughout Germany during WWI. A completely original example with photographers credits etc., this is the only image of Richthofen we have ever offered and it presents beautifully with some tiny scuffing on his chin.
