Although relegated to a symbol of courage during the World Series of 1939, Lou Gehrig showed up in full uniform to support his boys. Wearing the pinstripes and appearing at Yankee Stadium for the last time (he would presumably be there the next night too before the team hit the road and swept the Reds) this would be essentially the last time Gehrig would wear his home pinstripes! Issued by the Associated Press and stamped on the back with the date, this is a crystal clear original that displays beautifully with note to a crease across the lower part of the photo and some handling wear from being in a news room. A poignant reminder of a powerful figure in the history of the game and this is only the second example we have ever handled.
